After you apply
  • If SHA accepts your application, it sends a confirmation and puts your household on the property waitlists you selected. This does not reserve an available unit.
  • Households at or below 30% AMI or meeting SHA’s homelessness definition receive priority. Households up to 80% AMI may apply but housing above the 30% limit is extremely limited.
  • Check in once a month through Save My Spot at https://savemyspot.seattlehousing.org/ or by phone at 206-256-7000 or 866-623-5111 to stay on the waitlist.
  • Tell SHA in writing when your address, income or household size changes. Respond by the deadline in any request for information or appointment.
  • Near the top of the waitlist, SHA mails more paperwork. Return it so SHA can schedule an interview and verify your answers.
  • Contact SHA if you have not received confirmation within three weeks of applying.
  • Published property wait times are historical estimates, not an offer or a predicted move-in date. They cover applicants with the highest priority; other applicants’ wait times are unknown.
  • SHA may reject an incomplete or unreadable application without notice. False information may lead to cancellation, denial or termination of assistance.
  • Missing monthly check-ins, missed reply deadlines or returned mail can cancel the application.
  • Changing your selected properties requires starting a new waitlist with a new application date.
  • You do not need U.S. citizenship to apply. For federally subsidized units, at least one household member needs U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status at move-in. Mixed eligible households receive prorated assistance.
  • SHA sends a waitlist confirmation with Save My Spot instructions. Contact SHA if its information is wrong or your mailing address changes.
  • Before a denial based on criminal history, SHA gives notice and a copy of the criminal record so the applicant can dispute its accuracy and relevance. Criminal history is reviewed case by case.
Before you send it
  • Choose at least one property. You may choose up to two properties in each program. An application without a property choice will not be processed.
  • Use SHA’s homelessness definition. Staying temporarily with family or friends does not count for this application.
  • Sex, ethnicity, race and U.S. veteran questions are optional.
  • Disability details are not needed unless you request an accessible unit.
  • Do not use this application for Housing Choice Vouchers, Special Portfolio or Tax Credit housing.
  • Use the current form. SHA may reject an outdated application.
  • The printed form gives fax 206-239-1770, while the application guide gives 206-239-1780. Confirm the correct number with SHA before faxing.
  • Signatures, signing dates and the office time stamp are handled outside the question walkthrough.
What we could not check
  • Application joins a property waitlist. Historical wait times vary by bedroom size and priority and do not establish a vacancy or a guaranteed date.
  • Some details here could not be confirmed. Check with Seattle Housing Authority before you apply.
